About the Position

Aarhus University, Denmark, invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in the Graduate School of Natural Sciences under the Geoscience programme. The position explores submerged palaeolandscapes and their response to postglacial sea level rise and climate change. This PhD opportunity is part of the internationally collaborative RisingSea research group, with offshore fieldwork and global partnerships.

Research Area

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or at least 1 year of Master’s) in geology, geophysics, or related field
  • Good command of English
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work in international teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with seismic/acoustic data and sediment cores
  • Familiarity with seismic processing and integration tools
  • Openness to interdisciplinary research
  • Prior fieldwork or international research collaboration

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct marine geophysical analysis
  • Participate in offshore fieldwork
  • Support the RisingSea research group
  • Contribute to Drowned Palaeolandscape Atlas
  • Collaborate with international partners
  • Optional research visit to partnering institutions in UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium
