About Position/Job

Naturalis Biodiversity Centre invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their ERC-funded project WoodCulture. This research aims to explore timber supply, domestic forests, and technological innovations during the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance (1300-1600 CE). Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Forestry, Bioarchaeology, Geography, Biology, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines
  • Expertise in tree-ring science, especially isotope dendrochronology
  • Strong proficiency in R and other data analysis tools
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Independent work style with the ability to collaborate within a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in human-environment interaction studies
  • Published work in dendrochronology or bioarchaeology
  • Interest in scientific outreach and dissemination of research

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop stable oxygen isotope chronologies using tree-ring data
  • Engage in scientific dissemination through seminars and international conferences
  • Collaborate with a diverse team, including researchers at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands
  • Supervise students (if desired)
