The Vrije University Amsterdam invites applications for a Junior Lecturer in Archaeology, with a specialization in Northwest European and/or Roman archaeology. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching in the joint BA program offered through ACASA (Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology), a collaborative venture with the University of Amsterdam. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD in Archaeology
- Specialization in Northwestern Europe, preferably Roman period
- Proven teaching skills with positive evaluations
- Willingness to obtain Dutch Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO)
- Experience in thesis supervision
- Strong command of Dutch and English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous university-level teaching experience
- Administrative and committee involvement experience
- Interest in collaborative and multidisciplinary education
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and co-teach undergraduate courses in archaeology
- Supervise BA theses
- Contribute to course development and curriculum refinement
- Attend team meetings and serve on academic committees
- Perform administrative and managerial duties (10% of role)
