About Position/Job
IIT Roorkee invites applications for three Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions in a Ministry of Steel-sponsored project titled “Decarbonisation of DRI Process in Rotary Kiln using Hydrogen as Reductant”. The project aims to advance sustainable steel production through experimental and theoretical research. Candidates will engage in kinetic studies and simulation of iron ore reduction, contributing to cutting-edge environmental engineering efforts in the Chemical Engineering Department.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / M.E. in Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Civil Engineering, or allied branches
- Qualified GATE examination
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in research or industrial projects related to chemical or process engineering
- Preference to SC/ST candidates with equal qualifications and experience
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experimental kinetic studies on iron ore reduction using hydrogen in a lab-scale rotary kiln
- Perform simulation studies replicating experimental data
- Maintain detailed records and contribute to project reports
- Collaborate with the research team and support project goals
