Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in History or a closely related discipline
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate level in African history
  • Ability to teach innovatively and flexibly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising undergraduate research projects and dissertations
  • Research interest in colonial and post-colonial Africa
  • Applications from BAME candidates are especially encouraged

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and teach core modules including Colonial Africa, Interpreting Conflict in Post-Colonial Africa, and War and Peace in Africa since 1990
  • Deliver lectures and seminars across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules
  • Supervise Level 5 research projects and Level 6 dissertations
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental activities
  • Support the university’s vision as an inclusive civic institution
