Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Physical Oceanography, Climate Science, Mathematics, or Physics
- Proven experience in running ocean models at various scales
- Strong analytical and programming skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Earth System Models (e.g., UKESM)
- Familiarity with inverse modelling techniques
- Evidence of publishing in peer-reviewed journals
- Ability to contribute to funding proposals
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research on sub-polar gyre collapse using UKESM
- Calibrate and simulate ocean/sea-ice model sensitivity to Greenland melt
- Collaborate with national PROMOTE project teams
- Publish research outcomes in top scientific journals
- Participate in funding applications for future research projects
- Engage in academic activities within the department
- Maintain regular on-campus presence (at least 3 days/week)
