About the Program

Lund University’s Department of Architecture and the Built Environment invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Architecture leading to a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts. This unique artistic doctorate blends academic and design-driven research to explore urban design challenges through spatial imagination and creative experimentation. Based in a dynamic, international environment, the program encourages interdisciplinary thinking and critical reflection, especially in addressing contemporary urban and environmental issues. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Interior or Landscape Architecture (at least 60 ECTS at second-cycle level)
  • Documented artistic skills
  • Strong English proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in artistic research or interdisciplinary urban projects
  • Knowledge of digital design tools or mapping software
  • International academic or professional exposure
  • Ability to conduct and present independent, critical, and creative work
