About the Program
The University of Exeter invites applications for a UKRI-funded PhD studentship exploring Cultural Histories of Eco-Ableism, hosted within the Centre for Net Positive Health and Climate Solutions. This project will critically investigate the intersection of disability studies and environmental humanities, focusing on language, ethics, and linguistic justice in eco-discourses. Applicants will engage with historical, literary, or artistic case studies and have flexibility regarding media, periods, and geography. Supervised by Professors Katharine Earnshaw and Stewart Barr, the project offers interdisciplinary opportunities and access to collaborative networks including UKHSA, Met Office, and the National Trust. The selected student will benefit from Centre-led summer schools and support from a dedicated Cultural Producer. This fully funded position provides a rich academic environment for those interested in ethical climate-health intersections and inclusive environmental justice.
