About the Position

The Department of Zoology, Institute of Science at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, is inviting applications for a Project Associate-I position in a DBT-sponsored research project. The project, entitled “Role of Tim44 in rewiring tumour cell mitochondria to promote cell proliferation and angiogenesis,” focuses on understanding cancer cell metabolism and its role in tumour growth. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate life sciences researchers to contribute to impactful cancer research, working under the guidance of Dr Devanjan Sinha in the Cytogenetics Laboratory. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Zoology, Bioinformatics, or allied areas with at least 55% marks from a recognised university
  • Qualified NET/GATE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in cancer metabolism
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on mitochondrial dynamics and cancer cell metabolism
  • Support experimental work involving mammalian cell culture and biochemical assays
  • Maintain accurate research records and prepare data for publication
  • Work collaboratively within the research team under Dr Devanjan Sinha
