About the Position
The CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) invites applications for a short-term Project Associate position under the research project titled “Influence of Bengal Fan turbidite-sedimentation on organic carbon burial (sequestration), hydrocarbon gas generation and migration.” Based at the CSIR-NIO Headquarters in Dona Paula, Goa, this 4-month position is suited for early-career researchers with a background in Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, or Applied Geophysics. The selected candidate will support seismic data processing, modelling, and interpretation, and will also participate in scientific cruises for data collection. Knowledge of programming in Fortran, C, C++, Matlab, or Python is desirable. This opportunity offers valuable experience in both field and lab-based geoscientific research under the guidance of an experienced Project Leader.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Fortran, C, C++, Matlab, or Python
- Willingness to work on scientific cruises
- Interest or experience in geophysical data processing and modelling
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in seismic and geophysical data processing, modelling, and interpretation
- Participate in scientific cruises for marine data collection
- Support the Project Leader with technical research tasks
- Contribute to the objectives of the carbon burial and hydrocarbon migration study
