About Position/Job
The Center for Research on Palaeobiodiversity and Palaeoenvironments (CR2P) at CNRS–MNHN, Paris, is offering an 18-month Postdoctoral Researcher position in Palaeontology, with a focus on the tetrapod fossil collections from the Permo-Triassic of the Morondava Basin (Madagascar). The successful candidate will engage in a multidisciplinary project—VALPALMAD—funded by the Île-de-France Region via the DIM PAMIR initiative. Working closely with IPANEMA and HNHP, the postdoc will investigate the collection history, scientific value, and innovative preparation of fossils. The position blends palaeontological research with archival investigation, multispectral imaging, and museum studies. It contributes to critical debates in historical sciences and evolutionary biology while strengthening international and transdisciplinary partnerships. The expected start date is 1 November 2025, and the post is based in Paris, France.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Palaeontology
- 1–4 years of relevant postdoctoral experience
- Proficiency in English (C1/C2 level)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fossil restoration, conservation
- Familiarity with Permo-Triassic vertebrate collections (especially Madagascar)
- Skills in archival research and qualitative data collection
- Capacity for independent work and attention to detail
Key Responsibilities
- Reconstruct the provenance and history of fossil specimens using archival, scientific, and anthropological sources
- Implement and document innovative fossil imaging and preparation protocols using multispectral analysis
- Collaborate with CNRS, IPANEMA, HNHP, and partner universities in France and Madagascar
- Present findings at conferences and contribute to academic publications
