About Position/Job
The University of Galway is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher (0.8 FTE) to join the CO-BIOECON Project: Towards a Co-designed Regional Strategy for the Bioeconomy within the School of Geography, Archaeology and Irish Studies. Funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM), this fixed-term position runs from October 2025 to July 2026.
The researcher will work closely with project supervisors from University of Galway and UCD to develop regional strategies for the bio-economy, incorporating perspectives from archaeology, geography, and rural studies. The project involves innovative approaches, including exemplars from the agri-food sector, role model farms, and land-use conflict resolution strategies. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine archaeological insight with regional bioeconomy planning, develop a co-designed toolkit for policy application, and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across academic and governmental institutions.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Geography, Environmental Science, Agricultural Studies, or related field
- Experience in interdisciplinary research
- Proven skills in stakeholder engagement and policy analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in rural development or bioeconomy projects
- Knowledge of regional strategy co-design and toolkit development
- Collaborative work experience with academic institutions or government bodies
Key Responsibilities
