About Position/Job
The Croatian Institute of History (Department of Early Modern History) is inviting applications for an Assistant (First Stage Researcher – R1) position as part of the HRZZ project “Between Knowledge and Ignorance: Ideas, Practices and Heritage of the Enlightenment in Croatian Countries (LIGHT)” (IP-2024-05-5581). This is a five-year temporary position designed for early career researchers who have completed a Master’s degree in history and are eligible to enrol in a doctoral programme. Candidates with prior research in early modern cultural or social history and proficiency in English and French (minimum B1 level) will be given preference. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an interdisciplinary and historically significant project while developing advanced academic skills in a leading research institution in Zagreb.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in History (Humanities – History field)
- Eligibility for enrolment in a relevant doctoral programme
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of English and French at B1 level or higher
- Previous academic work in early modern social or cultural history
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research within the HRZZ project LIGHT
- Assist in departmental research activities in Early Modern History
- Contribute publications and present findings
- Support project-related administrative and academic tasks
