Durham University is inviting applications for the role of Advanced Lab Technician (Archaeological Laboratories) within its renowned Department of Archaeology. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Archaeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in archaeological laboratory work
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising laboratory activities and staff
- Familiarity with palaeoenvironmental sample processing
- Knowledge of museum and heritage sector liaison
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of the archaeological laboratories
- Supervise sample processing, artefact analysis, and archive preparation
- Maintain laboratory resources and equipment
- Collaborate with Archaeological Services and the wider department
- Liaise with museums, councils, and external partners
- Support teaching, student training, and departmental research projects
