About Position
The Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT Bhubaneswar) is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate in the project “Moksha Bhawan (Salvation Hotels): A Phenomenological Attempt to Understand the Bhartiya Model of Liberation and Care Ethics (RP479)”. Supervised by Dr. Richa Shukla at the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management, this ICSSR-funded project investigates the cultural, ethical, and philosophical traditions of Moksha Bhawans. The research focuses on liberation practices, care ethics, and the unique social demography of Kashi. This position offers an enriching opportunity to engage in qualitative fieldwork, interdisciplinary research, and cultural analysis. The project tenure is seven months starting from September 2025, making it a valuable role for scholars passionate about socially engaged and culturally rooted research.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Postgraduate in Social Sciences (minimum 55%)
- NET/M.Phil/Ph.D. with two years’ experience as a Research Assistant
- Knowledge of Banarasi, Hindi, and English
- UP domicile
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Kashi’s demography and culture
- Strong qualitative research skills
- Proficiency in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English
- Prior experience with funded research projects
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting fieldwork and qualitative data collection in Kashi
- Analysing cultural, ethical, and philosophical aspects of Moksha Bhawans
- Preparing research documentation and reports
- Assisting the PI with project deliverables
- Ensuring accurate transcription and translation of texts and interviews
