About Position/Job
The Research Initiation Scholarship (BII) at Instituto Terra e Memória in Mação, Portugal offers an exciting opportunity for a master’s student specializing in prehistoric archaeology and rock art. This full-time, six-month scholarship, potentially renewable for one year, is designed to support the organisation and scientific production of the institute within the Geosciences Centre (CGEO). The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Professor Luiz Miguel Oosterbeek at the Center for Polytechnic Studies of Mação. This project provides an exceptional chance to engage with archival research, develop interdisciplinary skills, and contribute to the documentation and preservation of Portugal’s prehistoric heritage. The position aligns with ITM’s mission to advance archaeological research and offers practical exposure to both academic and field-oriented methods in prehistoric studies.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Enrolled in a master’s programme in prehistoric archaeology and rock art
- Good command of English

- Experience in documentation, scientific organisation, or archaeological research
- Familiarity with Portuguese prehistoric sites
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and manage documentation and scientific production of ITM
- Support research activities within the Geosciences Centre (CGEO)
- Work under exclusive dedication in accordance with FCT Research Grant regulations
