About the Position
The Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS) in Trieste, Italy, is inviting applications for a research grant in Numerical simulation of sediment transport by bottom thermohaline currents along continental slopes. This position is hosted in the Geophysics Section and focuses on developing tailored numerical models to study sediment transport, seabed dynamics, and the formation of contouritic deposits. The work combines approaches from fluid dynamics, oceanography, and sedimentology, with the potential to integrate basin-scale circulation modelling and morpho-sedimentary data. The role provides a unique chance to contribute to internationally relevant marine research in the Adriatic and beyond. Ideal for early-career researchers, the project aligns with OGS’s mission to advance knowledge of ocean processes through interdisciplinary science.
