About Position/Job
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal is inviting applications for the position of Field Assistant on a project-based, temporary appointment. This role forms part of the project “Gig Workers and Digital Labour Platforms in Tier II Cities (Bhopal and Lucknow)”, funded by IISER Bhopal and supervised by Dr Ajeet Kumar Pankaj. The position involves data collection, literature review, and fieldwork, including travel to Bhopal and Lucknow, providing hands-on exposure to contemporary social research. The project investigates digital labour, gig economy dynamics, and social inequality, aligning with the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences’ mission to study urban labour issues. This opportunity offers candidates interdisciplinary experience, using surveys, interviews, and analytical tools to produce impactful insights on gig work in India.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BSc/BS-MS Integrated or Graduate Degree in any discipline (preferably Social Sciences) from a recognised university/institute
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in research on gig work, inequality, or labour
- Knowledge of SPSS and Atlas.ti
- Experience conducting interviews and surveys
- Basic understanding of Hindi
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyse project data
- Conduct literature review related to gig work and digital labour
- Travel to Bhopal and Lucknow for fieldwork
- Support the research team with data entry, coding, and analysis
