About Position/Job
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune invites applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) purely on a temporary and contractual basis under the project “Investigation of MJO modulation of tropical synoptic scale variability and equatorial waves” (Project Code: 30124711) funded by SERB. The JRF will contribute to advanced research in climate science, atmospheric science, and physical oceanography, with responsibilities including diagnostic analysis of reanalysis and satellite datasets, as well as numerical model experiments. Candidates with programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or Fortran and experience with climate models are preferred. This project offers a unique opportunity to work in a premier national institute, gain research experience, and contribute to high-impact scientific investigations.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Physics, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Physical Oceanography, or Climate Science
- Valid CSIR-NET / GATE / DBT-JRF / any other national-level test score
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or Fortran
- Experience with climate models and numerical simulations
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic analysis using reanalysis and satellite data
- Analyse numerical model experiments
- Contribute to the scientific objectives of the project under the guidance of the Principal Investigator
