About the Program
The University of Tübingen invites applications for two fully funded PhD fellowships (m/f/d) in Paleolithic Archaeology within the Department of Early Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology, Faculty of Science. Supervised by Prof. Nicholas Conard, the fellowships offer an exceptional opportunity to explore the 300,000-year-old site complex of Schöningen. This research aims to advance understanding of early human behaviour, cultural modernity, and environmental adaptation through archaeological, ecological, and interdisciplinary approaches. The program offers access to cutting-edge research facilities, international collaboration, and strong academic mentorship within one of Europe’s leading universities in prehistoric studies.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Paleolithic Archaeology or related disciplines such as Quaternary Ecology, Paleoethnology, Experimental Archaeology, Archaeo- and Paleogenetics, or Zooarchaeology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior research experience in prehistoric archaeology or field studies
- Strong analytical and academic writing skills
- Interest in interdisciplinary methods and cultural evolution research
