About the Program

This fully funded PhD position at the University of Montpellier in Paleomagnetism focuses on the project “The contribution of single-crystal paleointensity to the evolution of the Earth’s magnetic field during the Paleozoic Era.” Hosted at Géosciences Montpellier, the research explores how next-generation quantum magnetometers and innovative single-crystal methods can reveal new insights into the ancient magnetic field. Working under expert supervision and supported by the Horizon Europe UBEICH project, the PhD researcher will undertake laboratory experiments, develop new measurement protocols, and participate in international field expeditions across western Gondwana regions such as Argentina and French Guiana. This project offers exceptional scientific value, combining advanced instrumentation, international collaboration, and a vibrant research environment.
