About Position/Job

The University of Liverpool invites applications for a Project Curator to join the Libraries, Museums, Galleries Directorate, Cultural Heritage Team. This part-time, fixed-term position supports the AHRC RICHeS project: Reconstructing the Ancient Past: Digital Access and Visibility of the Garstang Distributed Collection. The successful candidate will manage accessioning of finds from John Garstang’s excavations, facilitate research visits, and work with the project archivist to ensure standardised metadata and enhanced collection accessibility. The role contributes to digital humanities, archaeology, and museum studies, highlighting the historical significance of Garstang’s distributed collection from Egypt, Sudan, Anatolia, and the southern Levant. This position combines curatorial expertise, archival research, and project management, providing an exciting opportunity to enhance global access to a unique archaeological collection while addressing colonial acquisition practices.
