Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Palaeomagnetism at Lund University, Sweden – Apply by 5 Feb 2026

About Position/Job

Lund University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in palaeomagnetism as part of the ERC-funded project PALEOCORE: Core dynamics on millennial timescales. The position, supervised by Dr Andreas Nilsson, offers a two-year fixed-term contract based at the Department of Earth and Environmental Science in Lund, Sweden. The research focuses on analysing sediment cores from Kerguelen and South Georgia Islands, reconstructing variations in Earth’s magnetic field, and investigating fluid flow at the top of the core over the past few millennia. The project employs interdisciplinary methods, including u-channel measurements, rock magnetic analyses, CT scanning, Bayesian age-depth modelling, and international collaboration with laboratories in Norway and the USA. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact research, enhance palaeomagnetic datasets, and develop PSV master curves for Southern Hemisphere sites, aligning with Lund University’s commitment to cutting-edge Earth science research.
