About the Position

The University of Cambridge invites applications for the Material Culture Hub Coordinator (Centre Coordinator) role at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research. This part-time, fixed-term (2 years) position supports the Material Culture Hub, an interdisciplinary centre fostering research, training, and collaboration in archaeology and material culture studies. Working closely with the Hub’s Co-Directors, the Coordinator will manage daily operations, organise seminars, workshops, and public lectures, and enhance engagement across the University’s research network. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of archaeological scholarship, heritage studies, and interdisciplinary research within one of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven administrative experience within an academic or research environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and web management platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating academic events, seminars, and workshops
  • Ability to produce visual materials such as flyers, posters, and slides
  • Familiarity with digital media, social platforms, and online communication tools

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations and administrative processes of the Material Culture Hub
  • Coordinate seminars, lectures, workshops, and reading groups
  • Support academic staff, researchers, and students in project-related activities
  • Maintain communication with interdepartmental and external networks
  • Oversee website updates and event publicity to enhance visibility
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative research environment
