About the Position
Dartmouth College’s Department of Anthropology is inviting applications for a Postbaccalaureate Fellow (PBF) in the broad field of archaeological sciences. Based in Hanover, New Hampshire, USA, this full-time, in-residence role is designed for recent graduates preparing for the next stage of their academic or research careers. Working under the supervision of Professor Madeleine McLeester and Professor Jiajing Wang, the fellow will gain hands-on experience in both archaeological research and teaching support. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a related field with a focus on Archaeology (completed before the start date)
- Coursework in archaeological methods and theory
- Completion of an archaeological field school or equivalent experience
- Strong communication, writing, and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in research and teaching environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in archaeobotany, GIS/remote sensing, microscopy, or archaeological materials analysis
- Regional research interests aligned with faculty expertise
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a teaching assistant for lab-intensive archaeology courses
- Support archaeological field and laboratory research projects
- Assist with research design, data collection, analysis, and report writing
- Help undergraduate students with labs, review sessions, and academic support
Additional Benefits
Postbaccalaureate Fellows working in residence in Hanover may receive Graduate Special Student status, allowing enrolment in one Dartmouth course per academic year with tuition covered as a fringe benefit.
