The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Tübingen is seeking an outstanding scholar for the position of Tenure-Track Professor of Art History (Early Modern). The successful candidate will focus on the study of art from 1500 to 1800, with desirable expertise in spatial art or architectural history. This tenure-track role offers a structured path to a permanent professorship (W3) following a successful interim evaluation. Candidates will contribute to departmental teaching and are expected to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly within the CRC 1391 research network. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Outstanding PhD in Art History
- Proven research and teaching experience beyond the doctorate
- Strong academic publication record in early modern art
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or specialisation in spatial or architectural history
- Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research
- International academic experience outside the University of Tübingen
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research in Early Modern Art
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses (4–6 hours/week)
- Participate in interdisciplinary research networks (especially CRC 1391)
- Engage in faculty-wide initiatives and collaborations
- Contribute to academic leadership and curriculum development
