About Position/Job

University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term Assistant Professor position in Humanities, specialising in Archaeology, branch of Antique Archaeology, within the Section of Roman Provincial, Late Antique and Early Christian Archaeology of the Department of Archaeology. This temporary position is a substitute appointment until the return of the current staff member. The successful candidate will contribute to both research and teaching, engaging in the study of Roman provincial archaeology, scientific publications, and international collaborations. The role requires participation in academic projects, supervision of students, and active contribution to the Department’s objectives. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow professionally in a prestigious Croatian university with a strong focus on history, archaeology, and cultural heritage.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in Archaeology, Antique Archaeology, or related field

  • Proficiency in the Croatian language (advanced level)
  • Ability to submit all required official documents for employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in Archaeology at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Proven scientific publications in Roman provincial archaeology
  • Experience in research projects and international collaboration
  • Participation in scientific conferences

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research in Roman provincial, Late Antique, and Early Christian Archaeology
  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc students
  • Publish scientific articles and participate in conferences
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects and collaborate with colleagues
  • Engage in public outreach and dissemination of archaeological knowledge
