About the Position
The Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Classical Archaeology, beginning 1 June 2026 or soon thereafter. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for a promising scholar specialising in Greek or Roman archaeology with a strong profile in digital methods. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial research community dedicated to exploring classical visual culture, landscapes, technology, and material production. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent in Archaeology, Classical Studies, or related discipline
- Documented, internationally competitive research achievements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with research-based teaching
- Strong record of publications and collaborative research
- Familiarity with digital tools and methods in archaeology
- Proven ability to attract external funding
- Commitment to interdisciplinary engagement and public outreach
- Willingness to acquire proficiency in Danish within 3–6 years
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in Classical Archaeology
- Teach and supervise BA and MA students in relevant courses
- Develop and implement innovative teaching methods
- Contribute to departmental research clusters, seminars, and projects
- Apply for research funding and foster international collaborations
- Participate in academic administration and outreach activities
