About the Position
The School of Art at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art History of Craft and Design, beginning in August 2026. This position focuses on the history of craft and design, exploring areas such as material culture, decorative arts, and handicraft traditions, particularly within the Americas. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Art History or a related discipline (by start date)
- Demonstrated record of innovative scholarship and effective teaching
- Proven ability or potential to mentor undergraduate and graduate students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and programme-building
- Strong record of community outreach and partnership development
- Engagement with inclusive and multivocal art historical methodologies
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and publish original research in craft and design history
- Teach two courses per semester at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Contribute to student mentorship and recruitment
- Participate in service to the department, university, and wider community
- Engage with collaborative projects across disciplines and partner institutions
