The University of Warwick, a world-leading research-intensive institution, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Environmental History within the Department of History, starting on 1 September 2026. This permanent post offers an excellent opportunity to join one of the largest and most dynamic history departments in the UK, recognised for its global impact and interdisciplinary research. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative teaching, including undergraduate and postgraduate modules, and will develop their own research agenda in environmental and global history. The position supports Warwick’s commitment to sustainability and the Environmental Humanities Network, encouraging collaboration across departments and with international partners.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A completed PhD in History or a closely related field by the start date
  • Research and teaching expertise in Environmental History

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Ability to design and deliver new modules in relevant research areas
  • Engagement with interdisciplinary or global environmental studies

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate modules
  • Supervise dissertations and research projects
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in Environmental History
  • Contribute to departmental administration and quality assurance
  • Support student learning and act as a personal tutor
