About the Position
Texas A&M University–San Antonio invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Medieval and/or Early Modern European History, starting in Fall 2026. This role is based in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Geography and offers the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant and growing academic community at a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The successful candidate will pursue a strong research agenda in the history of Medieval or Early Modern Europe, direct undergraduate research, and teach both world civilisations and advanced European history courses. A&M–SA emphasises excellence in teaching, research, and service. This role includes collaboration with pre-service teaching candidates, contributing to certification exam preparation. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in History or closely related field by the time of appointment
- Minimum 18 graduate credit hours in History
- Demonstrated specialisation in Medieval and/or Early Modern European History
- University-level teaching experience
- Evidence of scholarly engagement in the field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Record of peer-reviewed publications
- Involvement in curriculum development
- Engagement in interdisciplinary or community-focused teaching and research
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in world civilisations and upper-level European history
- Supervise student research projects and capstone work
- Mentor pre-service teachers and assist with certification preparation
- Maintain an active research profile in Medieval and/or Early Modern European History
- Contribute to departmental service and university initiatives
