About Position/Job
The University of Birmingham invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Latin Literature and Culture (Education) within its School of History and Cultures. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
- Extensive teaching experience in Latin language and literature
- Ability to deliver beginner and post-beginner ancient Latin modules
- Proven ability to manage and develop learning programmes
- Commitment to inclusive teaching and academic citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in student support and supervision
- Track record in public engagement or widening participation
- Evidence of curriculum development leadership
- Understanding of equality and diversity in higher education
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Latin literature and language
- Lead curriculum development and innovation
- Advise and mentor students academically and pastorally
- Co-supervise doctoral students to completion
- Contribute to administrative duties and school initiatives
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusive practices
- Engage in outreach, public engagement, and employability initiatives
