About Position/Job
The University of Queensland (UQ) is seeking two teaching-focused Associate Lecturer in Criminology for its School of Social Science. These part-time, fixed-term positions run from February to June 2026 and are based at the St Lucia campus, Brisbane. Supervised by Associate Professor Sarah Bennett, these roles focus on delivering high-quality undergraduate teaching in CRIM3039 Advanced Criminological Theory (0.41 FTE) and CRIM2000 Youth and Deviance (0.36 FTE).
This opportunity allows early-career academics with a developing teaching profile to engage in innovative, student-centred learning, contribute to course development, and participate in the collegial life of one of Australia’s leading social science schools. The positions offer exposure to criminology theory, youth studies, deviance research, and the chance to employ active and flexible teaching methods, including online and on-campus delivery, within a supportive and research-informed teaching environment.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion or near completion of a PhD in Criminology
- Demonstrated disciplinary knowledge in Criminology
- Ability to teach effectively at undergraduate level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Capability to use online learning systems (e.g., Blackboard)
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in course coordination or curriculum development
- Evidence of innovative, flexible, and student-focused teaching
- Engagement in interdisciplinary teaching or collaborative projects
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality courses in criminology
- Engage in curriculum design and course coordination
- Assess students and provide academic counselling
