About Position / Job

Stockholm University is inviting applications for a permanent, full-time Associate Professor in Zoology with a focus on Ecology and Evolution at the Department of Zoology, located in Stockholm, Sweden. This tenured academic position (Swedish universitetslektor) is approximately equivalent to a Senior Lecturer in the UK or an Associate Professor in the USA.

The role focuses on the study of animals using experimental and/or comparative methods, contributing to the department’s internationally recognised research strengths in ecology, evolutionary biology, behaviour, conservation, physiology, genomics, and population genetics. The successful candidate will undertake research, teaching, and student supervision, and contribute to courses in ecology, faunistics, and/or physiology. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent research expertise in Zoology, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, or a related biological science
  • Demonstrated research excellence within the subject area
  • Proven teaching ability and experience in higher education
  • Strong ability to collaborate and contribute to academic service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in teaching and learning in higher education (minimum 15 ECTS or equivalent)
  • Ability to teach in ecology, faunistics, and/or physiology
  • Willingness to acquire Swedish language proficiency for teaching and administration within a few years
  • Experience supervising undergraduate, master’s, or PhD students
