About Position/Job
The Institute of History at the University of Bern is inviting applications for an Early Postdoc position (80%) starting on 1 January 2026 or by arrangement. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Silvia Berger Ziauddin, this 12-month role offers the opportunity to develop a research proposal for the Swiss National Science Foundation or other major funding bodies, while also contributing to undergraduate teaching. With a focus on the history of Europe from antiquity to the present and non-European histories, the position supports innovative scholarship across temporal and geographical boundaries. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed doctorate in history (within the past 3 years at job start)

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare a research proposal for the Swiss National Science Foundation or equivalent body
- Teach one Bachelor-level course in Spring or Autumn semester 2026
