About the Position

The University of Vienna invites applications for a Fully Funded postdoctoral position in Egyptology / Egyptian Archaeology at the Department of Egyptology, based in Vienna, Austria. This four-year academic contract (01 August 2026 – 31 July 2030) will be supervised by Prof. E. Christiana Köhler. The focus of this role is on strengthening independent research in Egyptian archaeology, material culture studies, and interdisciplinary historical analysis. The position contributes to international collaborations within the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies and supports excellence in humanities research.

As a University Assistant Postdoctoral, you will abe to actively develop your own research profile. In addition, you will participate in archaeological field projects, publish internationally, and contribute to externally funded research initiatives. The role offers a gross monthly salary of EUR 5,014.30 (14 payments annually), with possible increases based on recognised professional experience.
