About Position/Job

The University of Warsaw is inviting applications for five prestigious research positions within the ERC-funded INASIA Project, led by Małgorzata Kot, PhD. These positions include postdoctoral roles in archaeology, field research, ecology, and paleoenvironmental studies, as well as a PhD candidate in geoarchaeology. The project runs for four years and focuses on early human migration, Pleistocene archaeology, and interdisciplinary research. Researchers will take part in high-mountain fieldwork in Central Asia, laboratory analyses, and collaborative interdisciplinary studies, combining archaeology, biology, geology, and environmental science. Candidates will contribute to innovative publications, international conferences, and the advancement of knowledge on early human societies, gaining experience in both field-based and lab-based research within a prestigious European academic environment.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD (postdocs) or current enrolment as PhD candidate (R1)

  • Advanced English communication skills
  • Ability to work in international, interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong organisational and research skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publication record in relevant journals or book chapters
  • Previous fieldwork in Central Asia or similar environments
  • Experience with lab analyses, statistical tools, and palaeoenvironmental methods

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork, excavations, and surveys in Central Asia
