About Position/Job

St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford, invites applications for the Haworth Early Career Teaching and Research Fellowship in Ancient Philosophy. This fixed-term, non-renewable post runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2028 and combines teaching, administration, and independent research. Under the guidance of Tutorial Fellows in Philosophy, the Fellow will contribute up to 50% of their time to tutorial teaching and administrative duties, with the remainder dedicated to advancing their research. The post offers a unique opportunity to develop as a scholar within Oxford’s vibrant philosophical community, while engaging closely with students. The role also includes pastoral oversight, admissions involvement, and learning support responsibilities. The position is designed to nurture future academic leaders in the field of Ancient Philosophy, with full integration into the College’s academic life.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent in Philosophy (awarded or near completion)

  • Strong communication skills
  • Organisational and administrative abilities

Key Responsibilities
