About the Fellowship
The 2026–2027 Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are designed for early-career Indian faculty and researchers who wish to build their academic expertise and research skills by collaborating with leading U.S. institutions. These fellowships aim to promote long-term collaborative relationships and expand the global impact of Indian research.
With funding support from the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), this prestigious fellowship offers scholars the chance to access advanced research infrastructure in the U.S., strengthen their publication records, and return to India with broadened perspectives that enrich their home institutions and academic communities.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be an Indian citizen residing in India.
- Ph.D. or D.M. degree must be awarded between July 15, 2021, and July 14, 2025.
- Proven research record with at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
- If employed, applicants must submit an endorsement from their employer confirming leave for the duration of the fellowship.
- Applicants must be in good health and eligible for a J-1 visa.
Not Eligible:
- Individuals working with the Government of India or Indian State Governments.
- Dual citizens or U.S. green card holders.
