About the Program
Umeå University invites applications for a fully funded PhD in Archaeology at the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. This doctoral position focuses on advancing research in human–landscape interactions, environmental archaeology, wetland archaeology, and the archaeology of northern and circumpolar regions, addressing key questions about how past societies interacted with changing environments. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience in landscape or environmental archaeology
- Strong academic writing and analytical skills
- Experience with laboratory, environmental, or field-based archaeological methods
