The CNRS offers a 36-month fully funded PhD in Ancient Greek Studies in Nice, France, through the UMR 7320 Bases, Corpus, Langage (BCL) laboratory. The position is part of the ANR-funded DramaRef project, which examines how demonstrative expressions function in Ancient Greek theatre from the 5th and 4th centuries BCE.
The selected candidate will conduct doctoral research within the Pragmatics of Texts and Discourses team and contribute to the annotation of a corpus database on demonstrative markers, including deictic and anaphoric references. The BCL laboratory brings together researchers across linguistics, discourse studies, cognitive psychology, neurolinguistics, language acquisition, and dialectology.
Nicolas Bertrand at Université Côte d’Azur and Pascale Brillet-Dubois at Université Lumière Lyon 2 will co-supervise the doctoral work. The researcher will also collaborate with members of the ANR DramaRef project through academic meetings and discussions.
