About the Program
CSIC invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Remote Sensing and Archaeological Landscape Research at the Instituto de Ciencias del Patrimonio (Incipit) through the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network PacificPeopleForest. The project, History, Archaeology, and Botany of Pacific Islands: assessing the Long-Term Impacts of Early European colonialism on Peoples and Forests, examines how vegetation structure, landscape development, and archaeological remains interact within the tropical environment of Rota Island in the Northern Mariana Islands. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr María Cruz Berrocal and Dr César Parcero Oubiña, joining a dynamic, interdisciplinary research community with strong international partnerships. This programme offers specialised fieldwork in the Pacific, advanced remote sensing training, and collaborative opportunities across Europe, making it an exceptional pathway for students interested in archaeology, environmental history, and heritage science.
