About the Program
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona invites applications for a fully-funded PhD in Philology titled “Carolus Magnus in the Canary Islands and in the Romancero” at the Department of Catalan Philology. This doctoral position focuses on studying the panhispanic romancero and living traditions of Charlemagne in Spain, analysing transformations from medieval epic sources to contemporary cultural practices.
The project is supervised by Prof. E. Arioli and aligns with the ERC CAROLUS research theme, emphasising interdisciplinary methods, archival studies, and fieldwork. The research duration is 3 years, based in Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain, with an expected start date of June 2026.
