About the Program

The Polytechnic University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM) invites applications for a fully-funded PhD position focused on the energy and sustainable transition of existing neighbourhoods in Mediterranean cities. The position is hosted by the Escuela Técnica Superior Arquitectura de Madrid and supervised by leading experts in sustainability, renewable energy, and urban energy efficiency. The researcher will collaborate with national and international actors, contribute to scientific articles, technical reports, and dissemination activities, and participate in project monitoring and reporting. The role provides a unique opportunity to develop academic expertise while addressing critical societal challenges in urban energy transitions. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is valued.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in pursuing a PhD in related topics
