About the Program

The University of Bradford invites applications for a fully-funded PhD in AI and Behavioural Modelling for Underwater Archaeology titled “AI and Behavioural Modelling – Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Underwater Archaeology” at the School of Archaeological and Forensic Sciences. This doctoral position focuses on developing and applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, and behavioural modelling to study submerged landscapes in the North and Baltic Seas, addressing complex questions in underwater archaeology. The project will be supervised by Prof Vincent Gaffney and Dr Andrew Fraser and aligns with the ERC Synergy Subnordica Project research theme. The research duration is 3–4 years and is based in Bradford, UK, with an expected start date of June 2026.
