The University of Cádiz, Spain, invites applications for a full-time Graduate Research Technician position under the research project “Diagnosis of Natural Units in their Historical Evolution: Identification and Non-invasive Analysis of Historical Heritage and Marsh and Dune Landscapes in Doñana (DUNEH)”. Hosted by the Department of Historia, Geografía y Filosofía, this role is designed for early-career researchers with a strong background in history, archaeology, heritage studies, and digital documentation. The position focuses on the Doñana National Park region, combining fieldwork, geophysical and geoarchaeological data analysis, database management, GIS, and UAV-based documentation. Supervised by Lázaro Gabriel Lagóstena Barrios, the role offers hands-on experience in interdisciplinary heritage research, non-invasive methodologies, and the production of digital models, maps, and technical reports aligned with international research standards.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History or Humanities
  • Master’s degree in History, Archaeology, Heritage, or a related field
  • Experience in database creation and management
  • Skills in field data acquisition and quality control
  • Ability to post-process geophysical and geoarchaeological data
  • Knowledge of GIS software
  • Spanish language proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital models, cartography, and technical reporting
  • Knowledge of historical, archaeological, and cartographic documentation
  • Experience in UAV handling with an official drone pilot licence
  • Familiarity with non-invasive research techniques in heritage studies

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain research databases from prospecting activities
  • Support field data acquisition and initial data quality control
  • Conduct post-processing of collected geophysical and spatial data
  • Produce digital models, maps, and technical reports
  • Compile bibliographic references, historical reports, and maps related to Doñana National Park
  • Assist in interdisciplinary research activities linked to historical landscape analysis
