About Position/Job

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram invites applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on the DBT-funded project titled “Decentralized Federated Learning-assisted Irrigation Scheduling and Food Sustainability for Paddy Field in Fog Network.” Under the supervision of Prof. Mainak, this position offers a unique opportunity to combine machine learning, data science, and electronics with sustainable agricultural practices. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • M.Tech./ME/MS/BS-MS/MSc (Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Electronics Systems, Communication Systems, CSE/ECE) with minimum CPI 6.5 and valid GATE/NET score
  • OR B.Tech./BE (CSE/Electrical/Electronics/Communication/Instrumentation) with minimum CPI 6.5 and valid GATE/NET score
  • GATE/NET exempted for B.Tech graduates with CPI ≥ 8.0 from IITs/IISc/IISERs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research or working experience in Electronic Device Management and Machine Learning
  • Familiarity with sustainable agriculture or irrigation technologies

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in federated learning-based irrigation scheduling
  • Develop algorithms for paddy field water management
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret sensor or simulation data
  • Contribute to publications and project reports
