KU Leuven is inviting applications for a fully funded Postdoctoral Fellow position within the FWO-WEAVE project Aristotle on Soul and Senses: Exchanges between Latin and Greek Transmissions of De anima and De sensu (EXDADS). This postdoctoral research position focuses on preparing a critical edition of the medieval Latin translation of De sensu, in collaboration with researchers at KU Leuven and the University of Tübingen. The role combines independent scholarship, international collaboration, and active participation in research activities within ancient and medieval philosophy.
As part of this international collaboration, the successful applicant will contribute to an international project examining medieval Latin translations of Aristotle’s De anima and De sensu alongside their Greek source traditions. Working closely with researchers in Belgium and Germany, the postdoctoral fellow will undertake editorial research, participate in workshops and conferences, and support collaborative academic activities embedded within the De Wulf-Mansion Centre for Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
In addition to these duties, the fellowship provides an opportunity to strengthen expertise in textual scholarship, medieval philosophy, and critical editing while contributing to internationally funded research. The project forms part of the ERC Starting Grant FitMA, the ERC Advanced Grant TIDA, and the Aristoteles Latinus initiative, offering an established academic environment for collaborative research in philosophy and classical studies.
This position is suitable for researchers with strong knowledge of Latin and Ancient Greek who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in medieval philosophy through international cooperation. Applicants will also work alongside a parallel postdoctoral researcher based at the University of Tübingen, sharing research methods, data, and editorial expertise throughout the project.
