About the Position
The University of Glasgow is inviting applications for a full-time, permanent Lecturer in Paper Conservation and/or Book & Archival Materials Conservation within the prestigious Kelvin Centre for Conservation and Cultural Heritage Research, part of the School of Culture & Creative Arts. This role may be taken up on either the Research & Teaching (R&T) or Learning, Teaching & Scholarship (LTS) track, depending on your career path and experience.
The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the development and delivery of the highly respected MPhil in Book & Archival Materials Conservation and Paper Conservation. You’ll be expected to take on leadership of the programme (typically within three years) while delivering both practical and theoretical teaching that reflects global best practices in cultural heritage conservation. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Professional or academic expertise in book, archival, or paper conservation
- Teaching or training experience in conservation or related disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- A PhD or equivalent professional experience
- Research outputs or practice-based contributions in conservation
- Experience supervising postgraduate students or interns
- Familiarity with HE teaching frameworks and interdisciplinary approaches
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and hands-on teaching in conservation methods
- Co-develop and update the MPhil programme curriculum
- Support students through academic advising and supervision
- Engage in research or scholarship (depending on chosen track)
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and leadership
- Collaborate with museum, library, and heritage sector partners
