About Position/Job

Bournemouth University (BU), United Kingdom, is inviting applications for a Lecturer (Academic) in Ecology within the Faculty of Health, Environmental and Medical Sciences, School of Life and Environmental Sciences. This is a permanent, full-time academic position based at the Bournemouth Gateway Building (Lansdowne Campus).

The role is ideal for a research-active academic with strong expertise in general ecology and a specialism in marine conservation, landscape ecology, wildlife conservation, or marine biology. The successful candidate will contribute to student-centred teaching, programme delivery and management across Ecology, Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Sciences, and Biological Sciences. In addition, the post holder will actively support student employability, maintain professional engagement with external stakeholders, and contribute to BU’s mission of fusing education, research, and professional practice at regional, national, and international levels.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent academic standing with the ability to achieve a doctorate within 3–5 years
  • Demonstrated expertise in ecology or a related discipline
  • Research-active profile with evidence of knowledge creation and dissemination
  • Commitment to student-centred teaching and learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialisation in marine conservation, wildlife conservation, landscape ecology, or marine biology
  • Experience in programme management and curriculum development
  • Engagement with professional, academic, or external organisations
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills
